Bridgerton Film Locations in Bath: A Regency-Era Journey

The Netflix series “Bridgerton,” based on Julia Quinn’s novels, has taken the world by storm with its blend of Regency-era romance, drama, and opulence. While the show is set in London, many of its most iconic scenes were filmed in the historic city of Bath, England. With the anticipation of season 3 coming out with its launch on the 16th of May 2024, it’s an exciting time to relive some of those Bridgerton moments. If you’re a fan of the series and find yourself in Bath, you’re in for a treat. Here’s a guide to some of the most recognizable “Bridgerton” filming locations in the city.

The Royal Crescent

The Royal Crescent, one of Bath’s most iconic landmarks, serves as the exterior or the Featherington family home. This row of 30 terraced houses, laid out in a sweeping crescent, perfectly captures the grandeur and elegance of the Regency era. Take a stroll along the crescent and imagine yourself as part of London’s high society.

Assembly Rooms

The Assembly Rooms, where Bath’s high society would gather for balls and concerts in the 18th century, were transformed into various ballrooms for “Bridgerton.” The venue’s opulent chandeliers and intricate interior details make it easy to see why it was chosen as a filming location. The Assembly Rooms are open to the public, and you can even rent an audio guide to learn more about their history.

Bath Street

Bath Street, with its cobblestone pavement and historic columns, serves as the backdrop for several outdoor scenes in “Bridgerton.” The street’s Georgian architecture provides a perfect setting for the series’ period drama.

The Holburne Museum

The exterior of the Holburne Museum was used as Lady Danbury’s grand estate. Located at the end of Great Pulteney Street, the museum itself is a work of art and houses a fine collection of paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts. It’s a must-visit for art enthusiasts and “Bridgerton” fans alike.

Abbey Green

This secluded square, with its ancient sycamore tree and cobblestone pavement, appears in “Bridgerton” as a quaint London market. Today, Abbey Green is a peaceful spot perfect for a stroll or a quiet moment of reflection.

No.1 Royal Crescent

While the Royal Crescent serves as the Featherington home’s exterior, No. 1 Royal Crescent, a museum, was used for some of the interior scenes. The museum offers a glimpse into life during the late 18th century and is furnished with period-appropriate décor, making it a fascinating visit for history buffs.

Trim Street

Trim Street, another historic street in Bath, was transformed into a bustling London street for “Bridgerton.” The narrow lane and Georgian facades provide an authentic backdrop for the series’ drama. 12 Trim Street is a hairdresser that was decorated up as Gunthers Tea shop for the series.

The Guildhall

The Guildhall, with its grand staircase and ornate interior, was used for several interior scenes, including the courtroom. The building is still used for official functions but is also open to the public for guided tours.

Beauford Square

Beauford Square, a charming Georgian square in the heart of Bath, was used for various street scenes in the series. The square’s historic townhouses and central garden make it a picturesque filming location.

The Abbey Deli

The Abbey Deli was dressed up as a Modiste dress shop for the series it’s in, is the city centre not far from Abbey Green.

The Columbian Company

You can follow in the Duke of Hasting’s footsteps and grab yourselves a drink at the local where he gets worse for wear, however, your drink is more likely to be caffeinated as it was the interior of the Columbian Company coffee shop that was used for this scene. For the exterior, the Crystal Palace pub was used just across the road.

Other Streets

For street scenes, some of the smaller streets were used. Alfred Street was used to hand out Lady Whistledowns Jucy pamphlet sets in series 1. If you’re a Bridgerton buff and kept watching, Edward Street was used for the outdoor scenes in series 3. For the filming, this whole street was closed off and given a new temporary surface so as not to see the giveaway traffic markings of our current era.
